Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that is also know as eyelid surgery or an eye lift. Blepharoplasty is commonly used for correcting defects and disfigurations of the eyelids. The Blepharoplasty procedure removes skin from the upper eyelids, or adds, or removes fat in order to reduce the baggs from the lower eyelids. This surgery can also improve the sight of older people by removing the sagging of upper eyelids that impede their vision. This procedure is done for upper and/or lower eyelids.

Blepharoplasty Treatment Duration

1 hour should be more than enough for the blepharolplasty procedure, and is usually done under local anesthesia.

How long is Blepharoplasty Recovery Time?

Recovery from blepharoplasty usually takes a few weeks, most patients are 90% back to normal in two weeks. The patient will need to make sure to give their eyes plenty of rest during the first week. The stitches will be removed after two days. 10 Days after the surgery the patient may return to work.
For a faster recovery the patient should avoid alcohol, excessive blinking and any activity that increases blood flow to the eyes.

What are Blepharoplasty Risks?

The risks of Blepharoplasty are minimal but still exist:

• Poor eyelid closure.
• Abnormal eyelid position.
• Infection around the incision area.
• Bleeding.
• Scarring.
• Dry Eye(Chemosis).
• In rare cases loss of vision has been reported.
